A study of background textures in chainmaille pictures
Unless you're doing a closeup of a sheet of maille, chain pictures require a background that doesn't take away from the image itself.
Here are some examples of various things found around the house that can (and can't) be used.
All pictures were taken with the same lighting and chain, in a lightbox made of foam-core posterboard.
The camera used was a Canon Rebel XS with an EF-S 60mm macro lens at a distance of approximately 38cm
(give or take a few depending on the thickness of the background being used).
Aperture priority mode was used at f/20 with ISO 200, exposures were all in the 1/10 to 1/3 second range.
